Help The Environment By Recycling

Did you know that you really can help the environment by recycling?  Yes, you can.  For everything you recycle, you not only prevent that item from sitting in a landfill and staying there forever without any chance of breaking down, but you save more of that item from being produced.

Take a plastic bottle for example.  Lot’s of environmental groups focus on the plastic bottle for obvious reasons, but the simple truth is that if you would recycle every plastic bottle your family uses, you could really help to save the environment.  If you view recycling as not a singular action, but a cycle of actions and reactions, you will begin to see how much recycling does help the environment.

  • Plastic bottle is born.  Made of petro-chemicals that have been processed and heated, their carbon waste has been released into the environment.  You’ve maintained our dependence on oil and helped to add a degree to our atmosphere.
  • You finish whatever is in the plastic bottle.  This is where you make the difference.  You have two choices, recycle the plastic bottle and help the environment or throw the plastic bottle away.
  • Throw the plastic bottle away.  Your plastic bottle that you’ve used one time has now landed in a landfill, where it will break down…  Oh, never.  Congratulations, by throwing your plastic bottle away, you have now become part of the problem.

  • Take steps to protect the environment by recycling your plastic bottle.  Choose a bottled product that uses recycled plastic and you’ve just helped the environment more than you will ever know.  By choosing one product that uses recycled plastic, you have helped to reduce our dependence on crude oil.  Good for you.
  • You use the contents of your plastic bottle.  How about washing it out and tossing into the recycle bin?  It’s not really that hard to help save the environment by recycling.  Most recycling facilities now allow you to dump all of your recyclable goods into one bin and they will sort it when they pick it up.  Helping the environment by recycling gets easier and easier.
  • Do this with every plastic bottle you get into your home.  Yup.  Every one.  Helping the environment by recycling requires consistency.  Keep up the good work.  Each time you recycle a plastic bottle, you save tons of energy and carbon dioxide waste in processing new plastic bottles, while keeping landfills free of unnecessary plastic waste.

But what happens to plastic when it goes to be recycled?  Your plastic gets sorted, squashed, washed or cleaned, de-labeled, shredded and melted.  This plastic then goes to factories who prefer using recycled plastics in their packaging.  Yet another big push for helping the environment by recycling.  Every time you choose to recycle, you’re helping to complete a cycle and everyone knows that cycles are far better than segments.
