I first learned about this problem with bees last year from the movie 'The Happening' by M. Night Shyamalan. After I saw the movie I of course immediately had to go look it up online. After a bit of searching I found it had a name, Colony Collapse Disorder or CCD.
Entire bee colonies would mysteriously vanish, with several dead bees leaving little evidence of what happened.
Reports are showing though, that this problem has been improving and bees are more numerous this year than they have been in the last three years. This improvement has come about in part because of greater care of beekeepers.
This gives me hope. Hope that we can change the planet and save it.

Wow, I had never heard about this disorder before. I guess not seeing that movie is one reason why, hehe.
I did see that kid's flick, Bee Movie. I never really thought about what the world would be like without bees. Would we just have to do manual pollination? Is that even possible?

Don't even get me started on Bee Movie LOLOL! Having an 8 year old in the house means that I have to watch movies like 30 times before they wear out their welcome. I can recite that stupid thing from beginning to end..............
My mom-bias aside though, that movie did have a pretty good message for children about the importance of bees. And where honey comes from.

LOL!! We can form the Bee Movie Torture Club. My kids are 3 and 4 and I've seen that damn thing so much.
Back to the original topic though, hearing that the bee problem is starting to take an upturn is very encouraging to hear. I have to admit I was pretty disturbed when I first learned about it. I think I wikipedia'd it when I first saw the full trailer for The Happening. I still haven't seen the movie though.

That's very interesting, but it's nice to know the problem is subsiding. Our planet would be lost without bees.
